WRITING with SPIRIT

Proverbs 12:25

King James Version

25 Heaviness in the heart of man

maketh it stoop:

but a good word maketh it glad.

Do you like writing?

Have you always loved writing?

Does it love you back?

But does it really matter?

All I know is I've ALWAYS loved writing.

Not really caring what people thought of my writing.

I had something to write, so I wrote.

Whether anyone read it, or it was just for self, I simply wrote.

Mostly to write what I felt at that moment.

Or stuff I've observed.

As dreams started showing up more in 1997, at one of the lowest points of my life, I started looking into it.

A Jung-based dream book helped for a while, to determine the meanings of symbolic words.

I started writing as early as I could think independently -- and that was when I was pretty young.

I guess I'd been in this field since almost forever.

There were "many books" in my heart.

And so it was.

You could say I already had the spirit of writing since I was a child.

Having had a quiet childhood, I was left to much introspection.

Looking into self was always good.

What did one think?

What did one feel?

What have you observed about people?

What was going on in the world?

Were people fair?

Were they kind?

What could be done better?

How could I be a better person?

ESPECIALY that last part:

"How could I be a better person?"

Such things populated my mind endlessly.

As you can imagine there was so much to write about.

What I did not realize, then, was that I was looking into how man could love better.

On how we could care more for others.

And making sure not to overlook anything.

Such thoughts encompassed every aspect of my life, and work, early on.

Even then, I had not thought of writing, to be read.

I was mostly doing it so I can understand self, and others.

Always trying to find "ways" and "solutions".

Merely "documenting" my own "findings".

Many decades after, my writing changed.

Where spirit of self was, a NEW SPIRIT took over.

The day GOD made me born again in 2019, His SPIRIT mercifully took charge.

Of course, my writing changed immeasurably.

Now, it's all SPIRIT.

What is right in GOD's eyes?

What is His will?

What does He want said?

What warnings does the LORD have?

When SPIRIT enlightens you, glorious stuff happens.

You write like never before.

You get to see clearly.

Through the "fog" of one's own muddled thinking.

SPIRIT leads you to JESUS, and His commands.

You begin to know the LAWS of GOD.

Your prayer is that you're ALWAYS aligned with GOD's will.

You do not think, speak, and act out of self anymore.

You have JESUS as your pattern for everything.

What a GLORIOUS way to live, think, speak, act, and write!

You have now distanced yourself from how the world thinks.

Now, all the more you don't care what others think of your writing.

It simply must serve the TRIUNE GOD:

Colossians 3:23

King James Version

23 And whatsoever ye do,

do it heartily,

as to the Lord,

and not unto men;

That's all you need to know about writing.

Not as the world would accept.

But as JESUS taught.

As apostle Paul challenged:

Galatians 1:10

King James Version

10 For do I now persuade men, or God?

or do I seek to please men?

for if I yet pleased men, I should not be

the servant of Christ.

And it's never been about "techniques".

It's always been about GLORIFYING GOD.

And only by being born again can one do so.

For the HOLY SPIRIT teaches us TRUTH.

The world is filled with lies, and misdirection.

It's now time to write about GOD's TRUTH.

The only absolute there is.

An essential focal point for all.

SIMPLEST writing ADVICE

Zechariah 4:6

King James Version

6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,

This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel,

saying,

Not by might, nor by power,

but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Before GOD made me born again, I was deluded.

I taught people to "write, as they speak".

It felt simple, real, honest.

Authentic, and practical.

It's how I wrote.

And it worked.

Yeah, right.

How wrong I was.

Because it can be problematic.

What if only profanity comes out of your mouth?

What if you swear, and curse, and bully?

What if your heart was full of self, and ego?

What if your soul was filled with greed, or envy?

Obviously, you cannot write that way.

So, forget all you've been taught about writing.

You need to be born again first.

Only then can you write.

In a way GOD approves of.

In a way that truly serves others.

In a way that GLORIFIES GOD alone.

In a way that works for your soul.

Writing is not about self.

It is about JESUS now.

How did He speak?

How did He teach?

How did He serve?

How did He love?

How did He heal?

Aren't those wonderful guides in writing?

That we become CHRIST-like, because we are born again?

That we are taught by His SPIRIT, so we may please GOD?

That we are free of ego, in order to serve well?

A born again can't think of any other way to write now.

We are inclined to write as the prophets, apostles, and disciples did.

They only wrote about JESUS.

They only glorified GOD.

They only spoke of SPIRIT.

Of course, you'll ask, "How can I do that when I'm in marketing?"

Very valid question.

But this is what happens once you're born again:

You will change.

You will question the ways of the world.

You will want to know what's right in GOD's eyes.

You will want to know His laws, and commands.

You will want to obey them.

You will want to know how to truly serve.

You will truly care.

The things of the world will be flushed out of your soul.

Only then can you write well.

For there's no more self.

Only JESUS.

Unless you're born again, you'll keep writing as everyone does.

Writing about self, money, goals, ambition, ventures, celebrities.

Where is GOD in all that?

SIGN of wisdom

Galatians 5:22-23

King James Version

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is

love, joy, peace,

longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance:

against such there is no law.

How can you tell if you've turned wise?

Especially if you're in the field of communications.

Or even writing, or marketing.

Here's what we found --

Being born again gets you simpler.

SPIRIT lives in the born again.

Who reminds us that JESUS is all that matters.

John 3:30

King James Version

30 He must increase,

but I must decrease.

All that should remain is the presence of JESUS.

Embodied through the fruit of the SPIRIT:

love, joy, peace,

longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

meekness, temperance

When you're born again, SPIRIT is in you.

When SPIRIT is in you, He teaches you.

He helps you remember the teachings of JESUS.

Which takes over EVERY aspect of your life.

Writing included.

Where before, you'd use complex words.

Now, you prefer simple words.

Where before, you intellectualize.

Now, you simplify.

Where before, you try to impress.

Now, you focus on the WORD of GOD.

Where before, it's all about "me", or "you".

Now, it's all about JESUS.

Where before, people say, "What's in it for me?"

Now, the born again says, "What is GOD's will?"

That's how you know you've got the SPIRIT of GOD in you.

Because now, all you talk about is JESUS.

And the gospel He gave us to live by.

JESUS is all that matters.

He's the only One worth writing about.

Have MERCY on your READERS

Dear GOD,

I beg you to spare us from vain men,

who show off their knowledge in this world.

Let them have mercy on us poor people,

who are drowning in information.

Why do I write short sentences?

Almost like bullet points?

Because I take mercy on you, my reader.

I know you have much to read each day.

Why would I make it hard for you to read?

I don't have the heart to write long paragraphs.

That go beyond your peripheral vision.

I don't have the heart to dishonor GOD, who made the Bible so easy to read.

Of course, it becomes easy to read, only because His SPIRIT is in the true born again.

That's the only way we can really understand the Bible.

That's the only way I can write this way.

I, a lover of words, who once dreaded the "word comprehension" part of our college entrance exams.

Pressed for time, you went nuts trying to figure out the extra long paragraphs given you.

Hoping you got it right.

Even as the paragraphs seem vain, and garbled.

Mercifully, I passed those exams.

Mercifully, word comprehension was but part of it.

Spatial exams were mighty easier for me.

(BONUSClick this link to test your spatial ability.

Don't worry, it's a super short test.)

Tthe HOLY SPIRIT taught me to think, study, write, and share, in the simplest way.

GOD knows I like to teach simply.

It's the born again way to be.

I've been where you are.

I know the pitfalls of trying to understand a vain society.

That keeps you pretty much in the dark, anyway.

GOD is simple to understand.

Exodus 20:1-3

King James Version

20 And God spake all these words,

saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God,

which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,

out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Only a wicked heart would refuse to learn.

The Bible is proof of GOD's love, and magnificence.

Our go-to, in times of trouble.

Our guide, in times of peace.

Sure, the book is thick, but GOD has a lovely way of teaching His people.

And that's for another post.

SPIRIT and I care about you, thus, we created our 45th blog on "WORD comprehension".

Nothing scholarly about our work.

Pride is an abomination to GOD.

LOVE is not.

HOW to WRITE better

Colossians 3:23

King James Version

23 And whatsoever ye do,

do it heartily,

as to the Lord,

and not unto men;

Having writer's block?

Things aren't coming to form?

Words seem elusive?

Don't quite know how to approach the matter?

How does one conquer all these?

First, RELAX.

BREATHE.

If you're not a writer, then don't be.

Accept that you're not.

That ought to keep the stress off.

So what if others seem to have an easy way with words?

So what if their vocabulary makes your head spin?

So what if they get all the awards and rewards?

Would GOD judge you if you can't seem to piece words together?

Look how Moses was.

He admitted he was not a good speaker.

As if that would stop GOD's plans for His prophet.

GOD told him:

Exodus 7:1-2

King James Version

7 And the Lord said unto Moses,

See,

I have made thee a god to Pharaoh:

and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee:

and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh,

that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

Problem solved.

Is anything too difficult for GOD?

Matthew 19:26

King James Version

26 But Jesus beheld them,

and said unto them,

With men this is impossible;

but with God all things are possible.

Second, lay out any problem with GOD.

If you are a believer in His SON, and you seek Him with all your heart, watch what GOD can do.

You just have to have faith.

Accept who you're not.

Accept who you are.

GOD created you for a purpose.

His purpose cannot be denied.

It cannot be defiled, nor despised.

Sure, I am blessed to have an ability with words.

But do I use fancy words?

Nope.

That would be pure ego.

TRUE born agains don't have ego.

If JESUS didn't have any, why would we?

We only have GOD.

We only have JESUS.

We only have the HOLY SPIRIT.

SPIRIT teaches us how to be.

Who cares if your words are simple?

That doesn't necessarily mean you're a simpleton.

Maybe, you're a TON of useful simplicity.

Knowing what matters most.

GOD is all that matters most.

That you are in His service.

Be not conformed to the world.

Romans 12:2

King James Version

2 And be not conformed to this world:

but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may prove what is that good,

and acceptable,

and perfect, will of God.

The world will always mold you to conform.

Its got standards, which don't necessarily reflect GOD's laws.

Be grateful you can think at all.

Be grateful you can speak at all.

Be grateful you can write at all.

Be grateful for everything.

Third?

Write simply.

Of course, if you're going to write a technical paper, say you're an engineer, naturally, you'll be using technical terms.

Still, you can use all those terms, and yet piece your sentences simply.

Use short sentences.

Use bullet points.

Come up with a short summary, or conclusion.

No need to do what everyone else does.

You know, like publishing a 200-page journal, on the merits of one screw.

Now, that's really losing one's screws.

And I will just bolt out of there.

P.S. I did write a super simple book on writing (c. 2016).

Click this link and have a look.

GOD bless!

TRANSFORMING the TONE

John 4:24

King James Version

24 God is a Spirit:

and they that worship him

must worship him in spirit and in truth.

How to transform the tone of your writing?

How to make your writing pure, perfect, precise, and powerful?

SPIRIT guided me to the idea, from an earlier post.

He guided me to tell you this:

PRETEND you're WRITING to GOD.

How could that be?

How can it not be?

Scripture says:

Genesis 2:7

King James Version

7 And the Lord God formed man

of the dust of the ground,

and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;

and man became a living soul.

Job 33:4

King James Version

4 The spirit of God hath made me,

and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Those verses testify, that the SPIRIT of GOD is in us.

He breathed life into us.

If we want our writing to be transformed, let's pretend we're writing to the SPIRIT of GOD, in each one of us.

That ought to transform the tone of our writing.

There will be love.

There will be respect.

There will be kindness.

Actually, do so, in EVERYTHING we think, say, and do.

Let us WALK in the SPIRIT, and it shall be so.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

King James Version

19 What?

know ye not that your body

is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,

which ye have of God,

and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price:

therefore glorify God in your body,

and in your spirit,

which are God's.

WORDS as TAPESTRY

Colossians 2:2-4

King James Version

2 That their hearts might be comforted,

being knit together in love,

and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding,

to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God,

and of the Father,

and of Christ;

3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

4 And this I say,

lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

A bunch of words form a phrase.

Words and phrases form sentences.

Sentences create paragraphs.

Paragraphs create letters, chapters, books.

Books create libraries.

Libraries produce learning.

Do you see the beauty of just one word, then?

Pretty much like a dollar needs a cent.

A nation needs people.

A teacher needs students.

We all need each other.

A whole comes from one unit.

A tapestry was woven from threads -- grown, dyed, separated, woven together.

Ever heard of the following?

"Threads of thought."

"A weaving of words."

The source of everything was God.

In the beginning, there was nothing.

The earth was void.

Genesis 1:1-2

King James Version

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form,

and void;

and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And then God spoke the FIRST words:

Genesis 1:3

King James Version

3 And God said,

Let there be light:

and there was light.

And yet, how could God not create with His Word?

He was the WORD.

Everything started from God.

John 1:1-4

King James Version

1 In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him;

and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life;

and the life was the light of men.

So, how could man take out God from his writing?

God is owner, master, and author of words, apart from being the WORD Himself.

The whole Bible is His Word.

Until such time man acknowledges God, the TRUE author of life, man can be as nothing.

His work, his writing, will fall flat.

For it doesn't have God in it.

But mine does!

WRITING with SPIRIT

Proverbs 12:25 King James Version 25 Heaviness in the heart of man  maketh it stoop:  but a good word maketh it glad . Do you like writing...
