Zechariah 4:6
King James Version
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,
This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel,
saying,
Not by might, nor by power,
but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Before GOD made me born again, I was deluded.
I taught people to "write, as they speak".
It felt simple, real, honest.
Authentic, and practical.
It's how I wrote.
And it worked.
Yeah, right.
How wrong I was.
Because it can be problematic.
What if only profanity comes out of your mouth?
What if you swear, and curse, and bully?
What if your heart was full of self, and ego?
What if your soul was filled with greed, or envy?
Obviously, you cannot write that way.
So, forget all you've been taught about writing.
You need to be born again first.
Only then can you write.
In a way GOD approves of.
In a way that truly serves others.
In a way that GLORIFIES GOD alone.
In a way that works for your soul.
Writing is not about self.
It is about JESUS now.
How did He speak?
How did He teach?
How did He serve?
How did He love?
How did He heal?
Aren't those wonderful guides in writing?
That we become CHRIST-like, because we are born again?
That we are taught by His SPIRIT, so we may please GOD?
That we are free of ego, in order to serve well?
A born again can't think of any other way to write now.
We are inclined to write as the prophets, apostles, and disciples did.
They only wrote about JESUS.
They only glorified GOD.
They only spoke of SPIRIT.
Of course, you'll ask, "How can I do that when I'm in marketing?"
Very valid question.
But this is what happens once you're born again:
You will change.
You will question the ways of the world.
You will want to know what's right in GOD's eyes.
You will want to know His laws, and commands.
You will want to obey them.
You will want to know how to truly serve.
You will truly care.
The things of the world will be flushed out of your soul.
Only then can you write well.
For there's no more self.
Only JESUS.
Unless you're born again, you'll keep writing as everyone does.
Writing about self, money, goals, ambition, ventures, celebrities.
Where is GOD in all that?
